Adam F@Pressure Report. Craziness.
Craziness. A bumper break from the books has turned into quite an unexpected drama. It all started with the last Pressure of an incredible year for Killa and the Drums n Bass... a year that has seen Andy C, High Contrast, Friction, Dillinja, Lemon D, Shy FX, Roni Size, Die, Blackmarket, Det, Tali, SP:MC and even the mighty Valve Soundsystem all grace the Union stages. Shit, I even organised my own night and spat my first tune this year. So Adam F @Pressure was bound to be a big finish, and possibly Killa's last.
The night opened with the return of Version after a year-too-long absence, in a B2B special with DJ Bensun. The sound - for probably the first time in 5 years - was sounding absolutely crisp, mic and everything! Craziness. The boyz were blazing it, gettin' the lively crew bopping early. Double drops and lots of fresh tunes. Standard. Big double drop reload Version. KD stepped up halfway thru, in what felt like a proper old skool TKOver. Bare vibes.
Ed Bosher followed in his last Pressure, warming tingz up nice with a crowd pleasing half-hour rinse-out. Crowd was well responsive - which always makes my life so much easier - and gave bare love to the 2 year resident Bosher.
And then there was Adam F. Shit. Hot. He opened with an exclusive dubplate, containing a range of the biggest tunes of the last decade (inc 31 Seconds, Signal, Twist Em Out), intercut with one-off shouts from Jay Z, Redman et al. Craziness. Set the tone for the rest of a blazing set, that included plenty of Breakbeat Kaos (Fresh, Pendulum) dubz. Personal highlight had to be the (Hype/J Majik/Wickaman's) Dubplate Killaz VIP Rmx. And hearing (Chase & Status')Duppy Man on a crisp system. Big Big Big.
Bosher rounded the night off in style with a special 10min blowout @his last Pressure. I'll never forget Adam F pulling up Twist 'Em Out so hard (without cutting) that he had to apologise to Ed!! Fair play... he was in well good spirits and form, and was particularly grateful to Killa for MCing his set, which is always nice (some of the big DJ's can be right d***s, no names mentioned). Your boy got bare love too from the Pressure crowd, so its all niceness... shouts to the naughty gal down front ;-)
Next day was spent cold chillin' in the sun, with big sandwiches, big spliffs and another big night ahead. Supporting none other than Killa's MC of the moment, Kano ("K.A. Do I play? N.O."). If you knew how unusual it is for Grime to be repping in the Student's Union, then you'd know that this night was immense for me.
Unfortunately, I got searched on entry before I was meant to be performing with DJ Shakes (hold tight) and found with a minor bit of green. The uni is bare strict on that shit, and so they took all my shit and wouldn't let me in. I was proper gutted -to say the least. My dream, my opportunity, shattered by some dudes who couldn't even know how important that shit was to me...for practically nothin'! Long, long tingz.
I retreated into the mash up hard, and spent time recovering from the blow. But you betta believe what dont break ya make ya stronger... Killa's feeling like a heavyweight right now. Finals - attack!! Disciplinaries are in the process as we speak. Craziness.
Shouts to Bensun, Version, Bosher, Deals, Mikey and all Pressure crew that made that night, and the whole year, an unprecedented success. The best year yet in an incredible journey. Bare love to Hustla for reaching, been too long. Easy Big P watching over proceedings via webcam. Here's to 2005-6...
